Press a shortcut, pick an email from Spark, check the details in a small review window, and it becomes a ClickUp task with the email, its attachments and a link back to Spark. Works on Windows and Mac.
Claude checks your computer, tells you which download you need, and walks you through each click. It takes about 10 minutes.
Help me install and set up "Spark to ClickUp", an internal Elevated Audience app. With it, I press a shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+C on Windows, Control+Option+C on Mac) or click its tray icon, pick an email from Spark Desktop, review it, and it becomes a ClickUp task with its attachments and a link back to Spark.
How to work with me:
- Go one step at a time. Run the checks yourself where you can, explain in plain language what you found, and wait for me whenever I need to click something.
- Never ask me for my ClickUp API token or any password. I paste the token into the app myself.
- Don't install anything except this app, and don't change Spark settings beyond what these steps describe.
- If something fails twice, stop and write me a short summary I can send to Jared (what you ran, what it printed, my OS).
Downloads (a Google Drive folder shared with everyone at elevatedaudience.com; I open these in my browser, signed in with my work account):
- Windows: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aLuiEuM1GQka8cBphdITr8V3YsbmEKuj/view
- Mac with Apple chip (arm64): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nRWRGv0B27dUXZJXn23GLrbLWLNuspx4/view
- Mac with Intel chip (x86_64): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hBXwDJoTLUIrsu7Ubbxx_kPv_MNsB8Jz/view
- Folder with all of them: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1YXADfoqacEkLqeNJEb2cG2CHINuFIOlt
Steps:
1. Work out my computer. On Windows run `$env:PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE` in PowerShell. On Mac run `uname -m`. Tell me which download is mine.
2. Check Spark Desktop is running (Windows: `Get-Process | Where-Object { $_.ProcessName -like "*Spark*" }`; Mac: `pgrep -lf Spark`). If it isn't, ask me to open it and sign in.
3. Check Spark's command line tool by running `spark --version`.
- If it isn't found, ask me to open Spark Desktop, go to Settings → AI Agents and follow the setup there, then check again.
- On Windows, if it's still not found, search for spark.exe under %LOCALAPPDATA% and Program Files. Note the full path, because I may need to paste it into the app's Settings under "Spark CLI".
- Then run `spark accounts` and show me the inboxes it lists, with their access level. Read-only is enough to create tasks. If I want the app to post the task link as a comment on shared-inbox emails, tell me that needs Spark's Triage access, a paid Spark Pro feature, set in Spark Desktop → Settings → AI Agents; it's optional, and I change it myself if I want it.
4. Check Spark can see my email: run `spark search --limit 5 --filter "newer_than:3d"` and show me the senders and subjects it lists (shared inboxes appear too). If it lists nothing, check Spark Desktop is open and signed in.
5. Download. Give me the right link from the list above and ask me to open it in my browser and click Download. If Drive says it can't scan the file for viruses, that's because it's large, so I should click "Download anyway". When I say it's done, find the file in my Downloads folder.
6. Install.
- Windows: run the Setup .exe (for example with Start-Process). If Windows SmartScreen says it protected my PC, tell me to click "More info" then "Run anyway". It installs for my user only, needs no admin rights, and opens by itself.
- Mac: first try `ditto -x -k "<zip path>" /Applications`. If that fails with "Operation not permitted" (macOS stops terminal apps from changing the Applications folder), unzip it next to the download instead with `ditto -x -k "<zip path>" ~/Downloads/SparkToClickUp-unzipped` and ask me to drag "Spark to ClickUp" from that folder into Applications (choose Replace if asked). Then:
- `codesign --verify --deep --strict "/Applications/Spark to ClickUp.app"` must print nothing. If it says "code has no resources but signature indicates they must be present", the download is an old broken build: stop and tell me to message Jared.
- `xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Spark to ClickUp.app"` then `open "/Applications/Spark to ClickUp.app"`.
- If macOS still says it can't be opened, tell me to open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click "Open Anyway" next to Spark to ClickUp.
- If I already had the older Mac-only "Spark to ClickUp" menu bar app, tell me to quit it from its menu.
7. Connect ClickUp. The app opens its Settings screen. Tell me to:
- In ClickUp, click my avatar, then Settings, Apps, API Token, Generate (or Copy if I already have one).
- Paste it into the app's "API token" box and click Connect. Not into this chat.
- Choose the "Elevated Audience" workspace, then the list my tasks should usually go to.
8. Verify the setup without reading any secrets. Check that the app's settings file exists and has a workspace set:
- Windows: %APPDATA%\SparkToClickUp\settings.json
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/SparkToClickUp/settings.json
Only report whether "workspaceId" and "defaultListId" are set and how many lists are cached. Never open or print token.bin.
Also ask me to look at the app's Settings: it should say "Connected as" with my name, and show the shortcut.
9. Test it. Ask me to press the shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+C on Windows, Control+Option+C on Mac; or click the tray or menu bar icon). A search window opens with my recent emails. I pick a harmless one with the arrow keys and Return, the review window opens, I pick a list and press Ctrl+Enter (Windows) or Cmd+Return (Mac). Confirm the task appeared in ClickUp with the email text and an "Open in Spark" link. If the shortcut does nothing, another app may own it: I can change it in the app's Settings.
10. Finish with a short recap:
- On Windows the app lives in the system tray (the ^ arrow by the clock). On Mac it's in the menu bar.
- Spark Desktop must be open for the picker to list or search my email.
- Emails already sent to ClickUp show "✓ In ClickUp" in the picker, and the app never makes the same task twice, even if a teammate already made one from a shared inbox.
claude in a terminal. Regular Claude chat can't run the checks. The app doesn't update itself yet. Paste this into Claude Code when Jared announces a new version: it checks what you have, swaps in the new version and keeps your settings and ClickUp connection.
Update my "Spark to ClickUp" app (an internal Elevated Audience tool) to the latest version, 0.3.0. Go one step at a time, run the checks yourself, and wait for me when I need to click something. Never ask for my ClickUp token or any password, and don't open or print token.bin.

- Windows: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aLuiEuM1GQka8cBphdITr8V3YsbmEKuj/view

- Mac with Intel chip (x86_64): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hBXwDJoTLUIrsu7Ubbxx_kPv_MNsB8Jz/view
1. Find the installed version.
- Mac: `defaults read "/Applications/Spark to ClickUp.app/Contents/Info" CFBundleShortVersionString`, and `uname -m` for the chip.
- Windows (PowerShell): find "Spark to ClickUp.exe" under "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs" and read its `.VersionInfo.ProductVersion`; also run `$env:PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE`.
Windows may show an extra ".0" (0.3.0.0 is the same version). If it's already 0.3.0, tell me and skip to step 6. If the app isn't installed at all, stop and tell me to use the setup prompt on the same page instead.
2. Quit the running app.
- Mac: `osascript -e 'quit app "Spark to ClickUp"'`
- Windows: `Stop-Process -Name "Spark to ClickUp" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue`
3. Give me the right download link from the list above and ask me to download it. If Drive says it can't scan the file for viruses, that's because it's large: "Download anyway". When I say it's done, find the newest matching file in my Downloads folder and check its name contains 0.3.0. If it doesn't, my browser may have kept an old copy; ask me to download again.
4. Install over the old version. My settings, ClickUp connection and history are stored separately and stay as they are.
- Windows: run the Setup .exe with `Start-Process -FilePath "<path>" -ArgumentList "/S" -Wait` for a silent install, then start "Spark to ClickUp.exe" from "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs". If SmartScreen appears, tell me to click "More info" then "Run anyway".
5. Repeat step 1 and confirm the version is now 0.3.0.
6. Check my setup survived and is current, without reading secrets:
- The settings file exists and has "workspaceId" set: Mac ~/Library/Application Support/SparkToClickUp/settings.json, Windows %APPDATA%\SparkToClickUp\settings.json.
- Tell me what changed in recent versions: since 0.3.0 there are no labels. I press Ctrl+Alt+C (Windows) or Control+Option+C (Mac), or click the tray or menu bar icon, to open a picker with my recent emails and a search box, and choose the email there. Any "clickup" labels I created in Spark aren't used any more; I can leave or delete them.
- Ask me to try the shortcut once and confirm the picker opens with my recent emails.
7. Recap in two lines: the version I'm on now, and anything I still need to do.
Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu → About This Mac. "Chip: Apple M…" means Apple chip. Drive may say it can't scan the file for viruses because it's large. Choose Download anyway.
The same steps the prompt walks you through, if you'd rather do it yourself.
In Spark Desktop open Settings → AI Agents and follow the setup there. Read access is all this needs. Keep Spark Desktop running whenever you want emails to reach ClickUp.
In ClickUp, click your avatar → Settings → Apps → API Token → Generate, copy it, paste it into the app and click Connect. Then choose the Elevated Audience workspace and the list your tasks should usually go to.
Settings shows the shortcut that opens the picker: ⌃⌥C on a Mac, Ctrl+Alt+C on Windows. If another app already uses it, click it there and press a new one.
Press the shortcut. A search window opens with your recent emails, shared inboxes included. Pick one with the arrow keys and Return, choose a list in the review window and press Ctrl+Enter (Windows) or ⌘Return (Mac).
Only one task gets made. Before creating, the app checks ClickUp; if a teammate already made a task for that conversation, the review window says so and links to it instead.
The list shows the last week across all your inboxes. For anything older, type a few words from the subject or sender into the search box.
If nothing shows at all: check Spark Desktop is open, then click Refresh. If the app says it can't find Spark's command line tool, set its location under Settings → Spark CLI.
No. Since version 0.3.0 the app doesn't watch labels at all, so nothing runs in the background and Spark's Agent Activity log stays quiet. Leave the labels or delete them in Spark.
The subject as the task name, the sender, recipients and date, the email text, any attachments you leave ticked, and an Open in Spark link at the top and bottom. Tasks also get a from-spark tag, which is how the app avoids duplicates. Please don't remove that tag.
It's stored encrypted by Windows or macOS on your computer and only sent to ClickUp. Never paste it into chat, Slack or email. If you think it leaked, generate a new one in ClickUp, which turns the old one off.
